In this follow-up to Clipped Wings, the emotional love story continues between Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.
In the wake of losing Tenley Page, tattooist Hayden Stryker's tumultuous past is haunting him. Plagued by nightmares about the murder of his parents, Hayden reaches out again to Tenley. Having run from the man she doesn't believe she deserves, Tenley finally lays her guilt to rest. Despite their intense physical attraction, Hayden and Tenley struggle to repair their fragile emotional connection. As Hayden gets closer to the truth, he must find a way to reconcile his guilt over his parents' death in order to keep the woman who finally cracked his armor, and found her way into his heart.
I am not a cliffhanger kind of girl. I am just not. If I hear a book
ends with a cliffhanger, I won’t read it until the sequel is released. It’s a
matter of self-preservation really. I would drive myself crazy with all the
“what ifs” in my head in between books. It would not end well for anyone around
me who would have to listen to me go on and on and on…
So you can imagine my surprise when Clipped Wings ended in a cliffhanger!
Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
This was not okay. My sweet Hayden was left sad and broken. I did not accept
this. I needed Inked Armor STAT!
Aaaaaaaand here I am, now having read
Inked Armor, writing this review.
In Inked Armor, I finally
got to hear my sweet Hayden say things like:
“No.
You don’t. You left me—not the other way around. So don’t tell me you know,
because you don’t. It fucking ruined me.”
Yeah! You tell her Hayden!!! She left you! Not cool. Not cool at all.
Wow—can you tell I’m Team Hayden over here? I was so stinking mad at Tenley. I
was “Get out of the stupid way, Tenley! I will learn to bake cupcakes and take
care of Hayden myself! Move!!!!” mad at Tenley. Eeeeeeeeeeeep. Guess I’m still
a smidge bitter over that cliffhanger in Clipped
Wings.
If you loved Clipped Wings and
Cupcakes and Ink (the novella that
preceded Clipped Wings), you have no
choice but to one-click Inked Armor to
see how it all ends. Is Tenley going to get her shit together or am I going to
have to take a baking class to take care of my boy? Is Hayden going to finally
get the happily ever after that he truly, genuinely deserves? How is it all
going to end!?!??!?!?!?
There is something truly special about these two characters. They are
not what they appear to be on the surface—there is so much more to both Hayden
and Tenley. I think that is what makes these books so special. These characters
have been through so much that you just want something—anything good to happen
to them. How much pain can one person endure? Watching them work it all out as
they are battling against their individual demons and the challenges they face
as a couple makes Inked Armor a must read!!!
So I guess the payoff after finishing Inked Armor was worth the
pain and suffering I had to endure at the end of Clipped Wings. But lucky you! If you haven’t read either, here’s
your chance to read them back to back without the anxiety attack I endured! Inked Armor: Buy it! Read it! Loooooove
it!!!
