SPOTLIGHT & AUTHOR INTERVIEW - Welcome To Paradise: Boxed Set by S.L.Scott

From New York Times Best Selling Author, S. L. Scott - Three Amazon Bestsellers and a novella make up this Contemporary Romance/New Adult/Romance Erotica Series. For mature audiences only.

I thought I was strong… But I wasn’t when it came to Evan Ashford.
The rich, cocky playboy I met within minutes of landing in Hawaii didn’t give me arrogance. He gave me his heart and his hard truths. In return, I gave him everything, including my trust. The man made me weak in the knees, but I soon learned the bad boy surfer had a reputation that preceded him and an image to uphold.

The sexual chemistry was unquestionable, our emotions irrational, but our love was undeniable. Together our pasts didn’t matter. Our different backgrounds were irrelevant. He made me feel his life wasn’t worth living without me in it. He took my breath away and saved each one of them, owning me wholly.

Evan became my life, but with all the obstacles that stood in our way, could he become my future?

Tricia: Hi, Suzie! I’m so happy to have you here at the blog today!

Tricia: So, with the release of the Welcome to Paradise box set and the follow-up novella, Happy Endings, I have to ask…is there a real-life Evan or Mallory? Is there anyone in your life that inspired those two characters? And you know by Evan and Mallory I’m really asking about Evan…I’m Evan’s Number One Side Thing after all. I’m going to be extra nosy and also ask if there were any scenes in the books inspired by real life *stares her down*.

Suzie: Surfers in general inspired Evan. I have loved the surf lifestyle since I was twelve. I used to go by Surfer magazine with my allowance. I would cut out the hot surfer pics and put them in a folder I had. I still own the folder by the way. Lol

Mallory was inspired by an average girl in college. I knew girls like Mallory in college. I may have even been her too. She’s a normal girl – has self-esteem issues sometimes, but has moments of boldness too.

The parts in the books that are real to life would bore you. The sightseeing tour and the places, I’ve been to. Everything else is glorious fiction with some reality dabbled in.

Tricia: I know you love to travel, have you actually been to Hawaii where the Welcome to Paradise series takes place? What’s the best place you have been and the number one place you want to go?

Suzie: I love love love Hawaii. I’ve been four times and would love to go back. We even very briefly contemplated moving there, but I’m afraid of catching island fever. Lol

We went to this restaurant on Maui that was breathtaking. It was right on the beach and you could see two other islands in the distance. I still remember the scenery so vividly though I don’t remember the name right now. Lol

Best places I’ve been – I’m torn between Hawaii and Paris. They’re so different and speak to different sides of my traveler’s soul. I still would love to go to the Maldives, Paradise Island, Australia, and lots of cities in the U.S.

Tricia: I have to ask---what’s with your mission to make all food sexy? We have pineapples in Good Intentions with Evan and Mallory and then we have strawberries in The Resistance with Dalton and Holliday… I mean how am I ever supposed to look at the fruits the same again?

Suzie: If you don’t look at those foods the same, I’ll consider that a compliment. Hahaha I do have a propensity for using food in sexy ways. I think food is not only delicious but fun. It’s a way for couples to be playful with each in a new, creative way. Although I have not used pineapple or strawberries, I have had fun with other food. More food to come in other novels too.

Tricia: I feel like you get asked this question all the time, but was there a specific moment that inspired your dream to be a writer? Also, what is your favorite thing about being an author? Besides getting to work with insanely sexy men inside your head, of course.

Suzie: It’s hard for me to pinpoint an exact moment I was inspired since I was little and making little construction paper books for fun at home and showing my mom way back in the day. I also pursued journalism and poetry in high school. In college I majored in journalism and did some creative writing.

From poetry to screenwriting, fanfiction to lyrics, I’ve been writing all different types of creative writing for years. So long story long, so much led me to this career. It’s been building my whole life.

I love the freedom to write whatever I want. I write what I would like to read, what I find entertaining and I’m not afraid to explore different genres though I’m curious if readers like switching up genres with authors.

Tricia: I don’t think I can even answer this question but who is your favorite out of all your fictional boys? I know it’s hard, but I guess I can also ask what is your favorite trait of each of your fictional characters, both the guys and the girls?

Suzie: Usually my favorite guy is the one I’m writing or releasing. Even though I may wrap a book months before releasing, as soon as readers start talking about the hero, it brings back all of those warm fuzzies and swoons that I got while spending every day with him.

Eeps, Characteristics of All. This try this:

Heroines -

Charlie: Unpretentious
Everleigh: Fortitude
Mallory: Moxie
Holliday: Captivating

Heros -

Charlie: Magnanimous
William: Benevolent
Evan: Passionate
Dalton: Magnetic

Tricia: I think that’s all the time we have for today, unfortunately. I hope you visit again soon. And I would be totally okay if you decided to bring Evan or Dalton with you. Just sayin’. It wouldn’t be a distraction at all…

Suzie: Oooh, I’d love to hang out with you, Evan, and Dalton. We might have to arrange that in the future. Thank you so much for having me here today. Mahalo <3

Good Vibrations (Book #1)

Let me start off by saying that this book was not at all what I expected, yet it turned out to be exactly what I was craving. It takes place in Hawaii and has two extremely hot surfer guys in it, so what’s not to like? Okay, but seriously, the book hooked me from the beginning. Mallory has just landed in Hawaii to spend the summer with her best friend, Sunny, and the first person she meets is Evan. Sexy, surfer, arrogant, playboy Evan *sigh*. They sleep together that same night. I know! It’s like, wait what? That so doesn’t happen in real life! Well, it apparently does to Mallory, and it was HOT. But, they both have emotional baggage and clearly, they don’t know each other very well, so the morning after does not end well at all... (To read more, click link above)

Good Intentions (Book #2)

So, I am officially in love with Evan Ashford. If I wasn’t before with Good Vibrations, there is no doubt about it now. He’s a changed man. But, more on that later. Good Intentions is completely different, yet exactly the same as Good Vibrations. For starters, they both start off with a bang (literally and figuratively). For those who read Good Vibrations, you know that Mallory ends up sleeping with Evan right when she gets to Hawaii. I mean, can I just be Mallory? Anyway, Good Intentions starts off with MAJOR drama. Maybe a fight as well. I can say that the first 100 pages of Good Intentions is exactly like its predecessor in that we see the fragility of Mallory and Evan’s relationship. Again, we see the whole “when it’s good for them, it’s fanfreakingtastic and when it’s bad, they bring the whole world down with them” kind of thing they got going on, however this rollercoaster only really goes on in the beginning of the novel. After the first 100 pages, it almost felt like a different book. But in a good way. There are new challenges for them, and twists and turns that had me squealing and then wailing... So, now that the Welcome to Paradise series has come to its perfect conclusion, I'm not quite sure what to do with my life anymore. Just kidding. But, not really. I'm seriously going to miss the heart-fluttery feelings that Evan Ashford gives me. Well, I'll miss the emotions that this series in particular evokes. S.L. Scott has a way of making me crave her books with their unique plot, loveable characters, powerful writing, and the way they make me experience falling in love. Every. Single. Time. Read one of her books and try not to fall in love. I dare you. Good Sensations is the end of the series, and I'm not ready to let go of this experience that I've gone through with Evan and Mallory. I just can't. (To read more, click link above)

Happy Endings (Book #3.5)

**WARNING: This is a spoiler free review for Happy Endings, however there will probably be mild spoilers for the other three books in the series. They are NOT standalones**

Happy Endings is the extended epilogue I never knew I needed. I kind of had an idea what it would be about going into it… After all, they finally got married in Good Sensations, so what else after goes after marriage? Nevertheless, I didn’t think I would fall in love with this one as much as I loved the other three. However, S.L. Scott (and Evan) does have a way with words, and I was easily able to fall in love with the series all over again. Evan and Mallory are the as unified as ever. It’s almost comical to see how far they have come since Good Vibrations. They are no longer dysfunctional, but very connected—inside and outside of the bedroom. Speaking of the bedroom, wow… I had no idea one could have so many sexy scenes in a novella! No complaints, obviously. But, it did make it even harder to say bye to Evan and Mallory. I’ve been with them since the beginning. I’m so ridiculously proud of all that they’ve been through together, it warms my heart to see how much they’ve grown, and it makes me swoon to see how in love they still are. They will forever have a small place in my heart—after all, I will always be Evan’s Number One Side thing…

“You are the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen…I want you…Don’t ever leave me. I need you too much. You drive me so crazy.”
“I’m not going anywhere. I’ll never leave you, Evan.”
“I love you. I love everything about you and trust me, Baby, your body is so sexy.”
