We shared a love that regulated every heartbeat and every breath we took. It was all encompassing. I thought our love could withstand time and anything thrown our way.
I was wrong. So wrong.
I used to be happy. I used to be Juliette Weston when Dylan Somers filled my life with promises of love and a happy ever after. But when he took my heart and broke it into a million pieces, I became someone else entirely. In one afternoon, I lost my soul mate. I lost everything I knew myself to be.
Three years later, the man who destroyed me is back.
To assuage his guilt? To finish the job? It doesn’t matter… I won’t let him this time. I’m stronger. I’ve moved on. He won’t affect me.
This is a story of love and betrayal. Pain and loss. Happiness and fate. It’s about finding your true destiny.
This is our story.
And it’s not for the faint of heart.
I’ve been trying to stay away from this trend of serials that seems to be the new thing lately. But, I had to give in when I found out S.L. Scott had one. Except, when I was reading Scorned, it felt like a whole new side to S.L. that I had never seen! It was different than all her other works! I think the shock was that it was a little reminiscent of her older works like A Prior Engagement but with the heavy emotions from her newer books like The Resistance and then a whole hellll of a lot of angst that came from nowhere! If this is your first S.L Scott work or if you haven’t read her older works, then ignore all that. Just know that this is brand freaking new S.L. stuff. It always amazes me how versatile she can get, yet still have such an amazing writing style regardless of what she’s writing.
With what we’ve seen so far, I haven’t fallen in love with Dylan yet. I think he’s going to steal my heart soon, but not without stomping on it and shredding it first. He’s going to be a handful. Since it’s alternating POVs, we get into his head a little and we see why Jules hates him so much, but I think there’s a lot more to the story. And Jules is awesome. She’s bitter over Dylan, and she now has this no nonsense personality that I loved! Her dialogue and humor is great and I can’t wait to see if she has surprises for us too.
Honestly, there’s not much to say about Scorned that won’t give anything away. It’s best to just go off the synopsis and read it. I love vague synopses, by the way. And, I mean, it’s a serial, I can’t give you a summary of the 100 pages or so without ruining it for you. I’ll just say that I think Scorned is a preview of what’s to come in this serial. It’s a lot of emotions and angst, but knowing S.L. Scott, I think we’re in for a ride. I predict lots of heartache for both the characters and us readers. I’m way too excited for it. I need the next one stat. The main reason I’ve been staying away from serials is because they have to have cliffys! And I hate cliffys. But, I just couldn’t resist something written by S.L. Scott. Sigh…
“I hate him with all my soul and every fiber, muscle, and nerve of my being. Dylan Somers broke me and my heart simultaneously, destroying everything I know my life to be.”

“My hate isn’t as strong as it once was, not even matching the emotions I felt a few weeks ago. Does this feeling lead to like one day or will I be living with a lighter version of this hate forever?”
