New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explosive series bursting with the Texas flavor, edge, and steamy romance of Friday Night Lights.
In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.
Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.
Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.
And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.
So picture this:
You’re going away to college with the hope starting over and
getting away from all the bad things you had to deal with in high school. Only
you come to learn all those things are following you to college, including not
only your ex boyfriend but you dad as well.
Yup. You read right. Poor Dallas has to deal with her dad
coming you college with her as the football team’s new head coach.
I think if I were Dallas I’d have cried.
A lot.
“In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip.
My life has always been ruled by both.”
“And when you spend that much time with something, you either love it
or loathe it. One guess which category I fall into.”
Enter Carson. Now, let me take a second and say Carson kind
of stole my heart. Not gonna lie. Super big-hearted and he is the sweetest guy.
He kind of makes you melt – I’m just warning you now.
Now what I really liked about Dallas and Carson’s
relationship is that Cora Carmack made it very believable for a relationship
that’s starting between a couple in college. They have an immediate heavy
attraction to each other, but the relationship builds nicely throughout the
book. There’s no instant ‘I can’t live without you’.
And well, who from Texas doesn’t love a good football themed
romance? Football is a way of life in Texas. Especially in West Texas where I
live. I know Cora is also from Texas so I had no doubts in her ability to pull
off the football theme, and she didn’t let me down.

I love the guys who play sports cuz they all are in shape and sexy. ;)
