The story is simple. Drew Evans is an arrogant, sarcastic, brilliant, blunt, sexy as sin playboy. Kate Brooks is the game changer. Drew’s perfect match that he never saw coming. She matches him in temper and personality, she brings him to his knees with her looks and appeal, she is opposite him in that she has been in a committed relationship for eleven years, and she makes him want to be a better man. The man for her *le sigh*. The journey to their happily ever after is not an easy one. Why? It’s not because of dark pasts or secrets that tear them apart, for once. It’s just good old-fashioned miscommunication with a huge dose of guy idiocracy.
They meet in a club before Drew knows that they are soon-to-be coworkers. He, of course, tries to pick her up, but Kate graciously says no. Next thing Drew knows, he is knocked on his fine ass when he finds out that they are now to work pretty closely together. However, Kate is not the type to cheat. Add that with their equally stubborn personalities and you get a whole hell of a lot of sexual tension. Eventually, they end up having a HOT weekend. And I mean HOT. No clothes at all with multiple orgasms kind of hot, and did I mention they fall in love? But, in typical guy fashion, Drew has to mess everything up by assuming things and going all asshole mode on her. He is heartbroken, until his sister not-so-nicely informs him of his stupidity. Then, the true games begin as Drew goes all out to win her back. His antics cracked me up. And made me swoon. I’m not going to go into too much detail about them because I don’t want to be too-spoilery, but wow does Drew know how to grovel.
I loved that this book was told solely from Drew’s point of view. He has a unique sense of humor. It is witty, blunt, dry, sarcastic, and raunchy. He is crude like only a guy can be, but he has this romantic side that Kate brings out in him. He has the weirdest thought process. Drew’s POV is especially interesting because he knows that he has an audience, so he talks to us women and gives us “advice”. The “advice” cracks me up. He is a very straight-forward, honest guy, which I find respectable. I like that he is unashamedly a family guy. The way he worships the ground his niece walks on makes me awww more than anything. Even though he is a total douchebag half of the time, I still found myself swooning over Drew. Which brings us to his other half, Kate. I loved her. She was definitely his equal. She was a strong, sexy, intelligent, no-bullshit kind of woman, which turned Drew’s world upside down. They fight a lot, but I bet the makeup sex is great. Her fiancé, Billy, is worthless and he is the only thing I wish Kate would have gotten rid of a long time ago. But, there wouldn’t have been much of a storyline without him. I especially loved how she knew what she wanted and made Drew work for her attention. I would have liked to see a lot of the Tangled scenes in her POV. I guess we’ll just have to settle for a Tangled sequel, which I am dying to hear news about… Anyway, this book will complete your life. Please do yourself a favor and go meet Drew Evans.
“I’m in love with her. Totally. Helplessly. Pathetically.
In love.
Kate owns me. Body and soul.
She’s all I think about. She’s everything I never thought I wanted. She’s not just perfect—she’s perfect for me.
I’d do anything for her.
Anything.
I want her near me, with me. All the time.
Forever.”
