"I can easily divide my life into two parts—before her
and after."
Hudson Pierce has led a life few others could even imagine. With money and power at his fingertips, he's wanted for almost nothing. He's never experienced love, however, and he's seen few examples of it in his dysfunctional family. The ridiculous notion of romance has always intrigued him. He's studied it, controlled it, manipulated it, and has yet to understand it.
Until he meets Alayna Withers.
Now, the games he's played in his quest for comprehension can finally come to an end. Or are they just beginning?
Told from his point of view, Hudson fills the holes in his love story with Alayna Withers. His past and relationship with his long-time friend Celia is further revealed and light is shed on his actions during his courtship with Alayna.

The betrayal is really hers, but I don’t want to hurt her. I
want to pull her into me, into my very soul, so that she can see how I feel
about her, see how this rips me up. Tie her to me so completely that she can’t
ever be out of my control. This was why I sent David away in the first place.
This is why I hold onto her as tightly as I do. This is why I doubt her when
she says she means forever. If she can wound me like this, then how easily will
she leave me when it’s warranted?
It’s a fragment of my greatest fear realized—she loves me,
but she doesn’t love me enough.
I am obsessed with this series. Each book is better than the last, and Hudson is just fascinating and heartbreakingly romantic. I'm always hesitant whenever authors write a male POV of their books, because I don't want to see the same story, but I should have known that wouldn't be a concern when it comes to the fantastic Laurelin Paige. There were so many gaps filled in this story and so many new scenes that had me wanting to go back and reread the whole Fixed trilogy. The emotions are all still there. This book spans the whole rollercoaster of the three books with the addition of some of his past and even a special surprise at the end. Amazingly written with lines that made my chest ache, Laurelin Paige throws us into Hudson's head where we see his past and his true character.
"The idea of love and affection consumed me. I studied it on every occasion that I could. I didn't understand it. I'd never been in love. I didn't believe it was even a real thing."
Hudson is a very complex character, but he is one of my top book boyfriends. And how could he not be? With his inherent love for Alayna and need to protect her at all costs, he makes a huge mistake, but how could he have known any different? I'll admit, at the end of Forever With You, we get the epilogue in Hudson's POV and I was a bit intrigued as to what certain scenes would be like from his perspective, however, never did I imagine that Laurelin would love us enough to give us the whole series and then some from his POV. And it helped a lot more than I imagined. With Alayna's POV we had to wait till the last book to discover all the truths, with Hudson's book we get to see how the complex web of lies started. More than that, we get to see how Hudson got into the game in the first place. And I think the most intriguing part to most is his relationship with the forever hated Celia. We get to understand her more and their relationship more, both before Alayna and during Alayna.
"I don't want Celia to do anything to Alayna Withers because I want her all to myself. What I want her for has yet to be determined. I don't have any urge to play the woman. But i yearn to connect with her in some way and whatever that way is, it's not to include Celia.
Even if I knew that Hudson and Alayna were eventually going to make it out of the game alive, I was still dying on the inside with each turn of the page. I couldn't help but get sucked into the story once again. There shouldn't have been any suspense on what happens next because I had already read and memorized the trilogy, but I was so engrossed in the story that I was able to ride that crazy train of emotion once again. And isn't that what we look for in books? We read to feel. We read to fall in love. And this story did that to me over and over again.
"I'm drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you or make you feel a certain way, but because you're beautiful and sexy and smart, and yes, a little crazy maybe, but you're not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me."
At first, Hudson does not think of himself as a romantic, but dear god, my Kindle copy is all highlighted up with the swoonworthy stuff he thinks! Going through quotes for this review is killing me with the beauty of it all--I wish I could include all the quotes I loved in this review. And the best part is, he doesn't even realize how his love for Alayna and all his thoughts toward her are so romantic. I love love love that we get to see Hudson be struck with love at first sight, but he has to come to terms with it in his own ways. The chapters an alternating mis of his life before meeting Alayna and after meeting Alayna, and the difference is fascinating. We get to see how keeping all those secrets from Alayna tore him apart. We get to see him finally feel love. We get to see him brought down to his knees by Alayna. I dare you to read this book and not want to drop down to your knees and ask Hudson to marry you. I say drop to your knees instead of drop your panties because I already gave him mine a longgg time ago.
"I'll love her like this, without words, but with my life. I'll let her in as fasr as I can. I'll commit to her completely. Her world will be mine. And I'll do everything I can to protect her from being hurt, including hiding the one secret from my past that will hurt her more than any other--the one involving her."
Just like the rest of the Fixed series, Hudson blew me away in more ways than one. The story flowed flawlessly with Laurelin's signature writing style. The characters were complex but ridiculously easy to fall in love with, except Celia of course. And the plot was just as fantastic as ever, as it made me feel like I was reading the series for the first time all over again. All in all, Laurelin Paige effortlessly pulled off Hudson and even if the next installment of the series is no longer centered around Hudson and Alayna, I still need to read it ASAP. Hell, we all know I'll read anything this woman writes, and I know for a fact that I'm definitely not the only one that feels that way.
"I begin and end with her. It's as simple and as profound as that. Our worlds have entwined and wrapped around each other's completely. They've shaped into something new and fixed and whole. There is no longer her story of mine, but now and always, only ours."
Laurelin Paige is the NY Times and USA Today
Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She's a sucker for a good romance and
gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three
daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't
reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Mad Men and
the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.
