BLOG TOUR & REVIEW - Give Me Grace (Give Me #3) by Kate McCarthy

Casey Daniels has a past forged in Hell. Despite the friends, the endless supply of women, and the muscle car he spent years restoring, it still eats away at him.

Grace Paterson is in Sydney as a temporary bassist for Jamieson, the band Casey handles security for. She’s also infuriating, off-limits, and completely irresistible.
A deal is struck, and despite their intense and powerful connection, both think it will be easy to walk away. But life can be more ruthless than either of them ever imagined. Not only does Grace have a secret she’s desperate to keep, Casey has questions from his past that he’s willing to do anything to get answers for.
It’s not until someone wants one of them dead that Casey realises his love for Grace is the one thing he could never walk away from.
In a story of revenge, betrayal, secrets, and love, Casey will need to reconcile his past with his present, before the future he never knew he wanted is snatched away.

I slipped out the front door, letting it softly click shut behind me. Casey was sitting in his car, staring straight ahead as I walked down the drive. Opening the car door, I slid inside and shut it. He didn’t acknowledge my presence, or even look at me at all. He simply shifted gears, and with a quick glance in his rearview mirror, pulled out onto the road.

I clicked my seat belt into place. “Casey?”

With a hard swallow, he shook his head, keeping his eyes on the road as we drove. Despite his controlled composure, his face was pale and tension surrounded him like an aura.

“Casey, you’re scaring me.”

“I’m sorry.” Our eyes met for a brief moment, the connection intense. Raw pain flickered in his eyes before it was quickly banked. “That’s the last thing I want to do.”

His palm slid over my bare thigh, riding upwards as he continued to drive. The touch sent arousal spiking through me, but not enough to override the concern.

“Where are we going?”

He shook his head as if he had no clue. After a moment, he replied, “I want to drive, but I don’t want to be alone. I want to be with you.”

My eyes fixed on his profile as he drove. The knuckles of his right hand were white on the steering wheel and his jaw tight. Something wasn’t right. In fact, something was very wrong. I slid my hand over his, my pulse racing when he flipped his palm over and grabbed hold.

“Casey?”

He glanced over at me.

“I want to be with you too.”

His answer was a squeeze of my hand before letting go.

We sat in silence as he drove. I stared at the dashboard, having no idea what to do or say or how to fix what was wrong.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Sure.” A smile came to his lips. It was forced because it never reached his eyes. “Just a bad day at work, you know?”

“No, I don’t know. Maybe you should tell me.”

The roads were eerily quiet when he pulled to a stop at a red light. “I don’t want to talk right now.” His hand fell on my thigh again, the calloused palm scraping my skin as it slipped upwards. Reaching between my thighs, he dragged my panties to the side and slipped his fingers inside, gently massaging my clit and dragging a moan from my throat. He leaned over, putting his mouth on my ear, his breathing coming harder and heavier.

“I want to fuck you, Grace. Not just tonight, but every night,” he professed, his fingers working me expertly. The red light turned green, but with no cars around, Casey ignored it. “Hard enough for it to hurt, so that when you leave, me fucking you is the only thing you can think about.”

I closed my eyes, my head falling back against the headrest. I wanted him to fuck me that hard. I wanted to feel him inside me even when he wasn’t there, but not like this. Not when he was using sex to mask a hurt so painful and deep I could feel the ache of it surrounding me until I felt suffocated.

“No,” I gasped.

He froze at the single word, his hand stilling instantly.

“There’s something wrong, Casey. I can feel it.”

His hand slipped out of my panties and I mourned the loss. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he snapped.

Tension bled into the car as he put it in gear and accelerated swiftly. My eyes burned. When we were good, it was wild and intense and consuming, but we always spiralled into such a hot mess. I wasn’t sure if Casey and I would ever find a happy medium.

Drawing a deep breath, I forced calm. “Maybe you should take me home.”

“No.”

My brows flew up. “No?”

“No.” He shook his head, his tone cold and harsh. “This was your deal, and now you want to turn it into some kind of relationship? That’s not what this is. This is about you and me and sex. So maybe you should spread your legs so we can both get what we want.”

**Note: Give Me Grace may be read as a standalone because each book in the series is centered around a different couple**

I'm obsessed with this book. I knew going into it that Casey's book would be awesome, but I had no idea that it would end up going on my favorites shelf. To be honest, i haven't read the first book in this series, Give Me Love, But I have read Give Me Strength which is book two in the series. I've heard and I do agree that each book in the series is better than the last. Except, I have no idea how the next book can top Give Me Grace. Seriously. Grace and Casey have stolen my heart and turned me into a mushy pile of Tricia-goo.

"When I'm with you, touching you, breathing you in, I forget who I have to be and I'm just me. When you leave, you'll take that with you."
"Casey, This...thing between us, I never expected it. Whatever it is, the intention was never for it to hurt. Maybe we should stop before it gets worse."
"Then let it hurt. Let it. We're not stopping, Slim. You're mine. Every night for the next five weeks. Just you and me. Fuck everything else."

There really isn't much I can say about the plot without ruining it. It's best to not read any reviews and just dive into it. It's the perfect combination of sexy, dark, funny, and romantic. It's told in alternating POVS between Grace and Casey. Grace is a model. She went into the business after her mom got sick with cancer, but she hates her job. She misses her family, so when her older brother Henry asks her to come fill in as bassist, she jumps to help him out. This is where we meet Casey. If you've read the rest of the series, we met Casey in book one as one of the band security members and Travis' best friend and we have been dying to really get to know him ever since. Casey has no family, and it is clear he has struggled with that fact. He has turned into the sexy security guard manwhore, until Grace barges into his life. They butt heads from their first meeting, and the sexual tension between them is sizzlingggg. They try to hate each other, then they try being friends, but you already know, that they're just meant to be. But, watching them get to that point is always one of the best parts.

"I had given up. I was ready to walk into that ocean and end it all. But Travis hadn't let me. I hadn't risen when I fell, he'd fucking picked me up, just like Grace was trying to do now. And I loved her for it. I fucking loved her."

Grace is a fantastic heroine. She's successful as a highly-demanded model. Obviously, she has to be drop-dead gorgeous, but you wouldn't know that just by listening to her inner monologue. She is still humble, kind, and grounded. Grace had to step up and hold the family together when her mom became terminally ill, and she hasn't been the same since. She's feisty and hilarious, which definitely catches Casey's eye. She challenges him in more ways than one. The biggest would be how she refuses to give in to his advances. Once they finally realize the connection between them is too strong to ignore, she stipulates that at the end of her few months with the band that her and Casey have to walk away from each other. Grace has more than a few secrets bottled up inside, and I really loved the way the author was able to spread them out enough so that I was gripped by each turn of events, devouring pages until the early hours of the morning.

"Remember when you told me you loved me that first time? And when you said that some people leave you in the blink of an eye, and some are with you for years? I promise you, Grace, no matter what happens, you'll be with me forever, because you're in my heart, and I won't let you leave."

I had no doubt how much I loved Casey already, however, my love for him has increased ten-fold with all the new information of his past and with the addition of his other half, Grace. Casey has started seeing his closest friends settle down with their perfect mates, so he can't help but hope for that as well. He is mostly content in his playboy ways until then. It appears Casey has many many secrets of his own. And I enjoyed uncovering his past. Even if it included that crazy woman, Morgan. Casey loves so deeply, and he protects everyone he can. The way he so readily and whole-heartedly falls in love with Grace shattered me into a million pieces. I still can't move on from Casey. He's too freaking sexy and amazing. His banter with with Grace is hilarious. His love for Grace is fierce. His love scenes with Grace are unforgettable. I just can't move on...

"I see a man who doesn't know how to give up and I thank fucking God for that, because while I might be able to fight for him, right now, I need him to fight for me. I need..."
"I love you so much, Slim. I'll fight for you, I promise."

We get to catch up with all the other characters that we know and love from the first two books, and we definitely see a lot of previews for the next book Give Me Hell, which I think is Jake and Mac? They have a lot more issues in this book.
There were many other things that made me fall more in love with Kate McCarthy and Give Me Grace. The writing was unsurprisingly fantastic, the plot was intricate and well-told, the characters were all as real and easy to love, and overall the book takes no prisoners--sucking you in, making you swoon and get hot, and spitting you out a love-struck mess. I also love that there is always the suspense twist in each of the books in the Give Me series. Mostly because we get to see the hero go all badass alpha. Anyway, read this book. There's no way you can't love it.

"My name's Casey Daniels. And I'm madly in love with a woman who's loud in bed and snores like a man. She's also stubborn, and incredibly sexy, and one day...she's going to marry me, and it won't make me the happiest man on Earth...because right now I already am."

She is married with two children, has two dogs and house in the suburbs, and a pile of friends and family dotted all over the country that help keep her sane.
When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, crunching numbers, piping buttercream and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites. Her favourite books are the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward in which she longs to eventually join the brotherhood and change her name to Phierce Mutha.
