Synopsis
Will their past determine their future?
Saint Ford has worked hard to achieve her childhood dream of becoming of nurse. Focused on her work and devoted to her patients, there’s no room for love. She doesn’t need a guy making waves in her calm, serene life—especially when he’s the unforgettable hottie who nearly destroyed her in high school. Dark, brooding Nash Donovan might not remember her or the terrible pain he caused. But he turned her world upside down . . . and now he’s trying to do it again.
Saint has no idea that Nash isn’t the cocky player he once was. Uncovering a devastating family secret has rocked his world, and now he’s struggling to figure out his future. He can’t be distracted by the pretty nurse he seems to meet everywhere. Still, he can’t ignore the sparks that fly between them —or how she seems so desperate to get away from him. But the funny, sweet, and drop-dead gorgeous Saint is far too amazing to give up on—especially since she’s the only thing in his life that seems to make sense.
When Nash discovers the truth about their past, he realizes he may have lost her heart before he could even fight for it. Now, Saint has to decide: is Nash worth risking herself for all over again?
**Do NOT read if have you have not finished ROME! This review contains spoilers from the end of ROME.**
Oh Nash… Where shall I start?
I’ve been (not so) patiently waiting for Nash’s story since
ever since I read Rule. Which, I’m afraid to say was only around New Years. I
know some of you Marked Men fans have been waiting for him much longer, but let
me tell you… NASH IS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!
I fell in love with Nash instantly while reading Rule and
that love has only grown even more so while reading the rest of the series. So
far, I have to say Nash has stolen my heart out of the Marked Men. I know Rowdy
and Asa’s stories have yet to come – but they’ll have to do one heck of a job
to pull me from Nash.
Nash is the type of book boyfriend that melts you heart over
and over again.
He walked away with a wink . . . and I had a crush.
Nash and Saint’s story goes back to when they were in high
school. Unfortunately Saint didn’t have the same high school experience as Nash
did. Saint was on some level a victim of what our society has now put a
spotlight on as bullying. How could someone in her shoes do anything BUT have a
crush on the hot guy named Nash, who is only 1 locker down and takes time to
smile at her all the time?
The halls of high school were torture for a girl like me,
but I suffered through it mostly unscratched because I knew when to keep my
head down and not to set my sights on friends or boys that were out of my
league.
As we learned at the end of Rome – Phil, the guy Nash knew
as his uncle and took him in when he was a teenager… is actually Nash’s real
dad. As an ER nurse, the first time Saint sees Nash since high school is when
Rome ends up in the ER – both times – and Saint quickly lets Nash know she doesn’t
have warm fuzzy feelings toward him. However, after Phil gets sick and also ends
up in the ER Saint starts to show a tenderness toward Nash.
“I got you, Nash.” Her eyes were a thundercloud I wanted to
stare at forever.
How does one get over their feelings towards those they felt
were cruel to them when they were younger? Now I’m not saying Nash “bullied”
Saint in high school, but I will divulge that Saint FELT like Nash was one of
the people she needed to group in with those she considered the “Bullies”.
I found Saint to be incredibly relatable as she deals with
her feelings toward who she was and who she currently is. As well as her
dealing with who she THOUGHT Nash was and who she beginning to know him as now.
I think we all have misconceptions of people based on our experiences with
those said people, but we can also have misconceptions of ourselves as well.
We’re all our own worst enemy, and just because you see yourself one way,
doesn’t mean others see you that way. This is something we see Saint struggle
with most of the book, and it’s hard not to feel like you could walk in her
shoes.
As if Nash and Saint story didn’t have enough with Saint
trying decide if she can trust the version of Nash she is getting to know and
letting go of feelings left behind from the Nash she thought she knew – Poor
Nash is also dealing with the fact Phil – the guy he just found out is his real
dad – has lung cancer. That alone is enough to break my heart for him.
And then ON TOP OF THAT we learn what selfish and
materialistic monster Nash’s mom is. Now I won’t go into details but it’s been
argued that Nash’s mom wins worst Marked Men parent. However, I still feel like
the award for Marked Men douchbag parent still goes to Jet’s dad. You can be
the judge for yourself…
