Chase Lovell lives for the present and doesn't think about much else. When he goes to see his coach for a meeting, a female standing at the end of a long bus line at his college sparks his interest and earns his respect. Intent on approaching her, he misses his chance, and assumes that he'll never see her again. When Pierce, his best friend asks him to pick up his cousin, Beth, from Franklin Parks and drive her to Paloma's Edge, he can't deny that this is the girl he's been drawn to.
But will Chase do whatever it takes to keep the girl he's found again?

We first meet Chase as he watches Bethany at the bus stop. Not able to talk to her at the time Chase thinks he’s missed out on the chance to meet her. However, Chase is working for her uncle for the summer and is asked to pick up Bethany and take her to spend the summer with her aunt, uncle and cousins.
It’s not hard to find yourself relating to Bethany and Chase. Robin Shaw did an excellent job of making these two characters very likable! Both are struggling with absence of having parents in their lives and the effects that has had on their outlook and behaviors. While Bethany is more reserved and shy but driven academically, Chase has been a bit of a playboy until recently but is also driven to succeed and provide for himself.
Bethany really wants to pursue getting to know Chase but battles the fear being compared to her mother for trying to have a relationship with a “bad boy” type. Chase is desperately drawn to Bethany but he is trying to overcome his “bad boy” image and learn how to be in a normal relationship.
While I found myself wrapped up on Chase and Bethany’s story, Robin Shaw also threw in a considerable amount of other characters to fall in love with as well. There are Bethany’s cousins and their friends, plus Bethany’s two best friends from her hometown. And then there’s Hunter…
A little over halfway into the book there is a bit of a surprising twist to Chase’s story that involves a character named Hunter. Now, to my understanding Hunter is next to get his own story in this series, and I cannot wait!
If Hunter is anything like Chase I’ll have a couple of new book boyfriends from this series!
