REVIEW - Escaping Reality by Lisa Renee Jones

I honestly could sum this review up in two words – Liam Stone.

If just his name can make me melt, can you imagine what I was like reading this book? Add to the fact that first scene of the book started off by trying to rip my heart out and had me close to damn tears!

I squeeze my eyes shut, fighting a wave of emotions. Once again, my life is turned upside down. Once again I will lose everything, and while everything is so much less than before, it’s all I have.

Now I got the chance to meet up with Lisa Renee Jones (and her fiancé, Diego) at Book Bash. We talked very briefly about Escaping Reality because our focus was on The Inside Out Series while we chatted. But if I could back in time I would pestered her for more information because I was not prepared for what I was in for! Not by a long shot!

Not that there should be any question about the fact that Lisa Renee Jones is an amazing story teller after reading The Inside Out Series, but she blew me away with Escaping Reality, making me fall in love with these new characters, Amy and Liam.

Now I call her character Amy, because we never get to know her as Lana. We only ever know her as Amy. We are introduced to her world as she is leaving one life and having to run away to start a new one… again. This time as Amy Bensen.

In the process of fleeing the life she has led for the past six year she meets Liam by chance on the plane to her new home in Denver. A place she’s never been. Liam is a sexy, rich and a very charming stranger that just won’t leave her alone so she can get a hold of her new bearings and figure out how she is suppose to adjust to a new life in Denver.

After Liam tells her that he only in Denver for business purposes, she figures she’ll have some fun with intense sexy stranger and then eventually he’ll head home so she can get back to just trying to survive with what life has given her to deal with.

When is it ever that easy of these control freak alpha males?

“If you tell me you don’t want to be with me. I will listen. I won’t like it, but I will listen. I need you to know that. But when you say you ‘can’t’ be with me, like some obstacle out of your control is stopping you from seeing me, I’m not going to listen.”

Liam seems driven to protect Amy for some reason, and I think Amy finally realizes that she doesn’t want to be alone anymore. So she starts to let Liam in… but gradually. When your life is at stake it’s hard to trust anyone. You would find it hard to trust some stranger you just met on the plane to your new life, wouldn’t you?

Lisa Renee Jones takes us on a crazy ride with Amy as she struggles with her feelings for Liam, trying to understand the sketchy new job of hers and looking for clues to help solve the mystery of why she had to run away in the first place.

Now, I will warn you now – there is a HUGE cliffhanger at the end. If you thought the cliffhanger at the end of If I Were You was bad, it’s nothing compared to this one! If Lisa had been within reaching distance of me when I finished Escaping Reality… well, let’s just say she better be glad she wasn’t!

So, I am just going to patiently sit here and wait for book 2, Infinite Possibilities.
