REVIEW - Midnight Caller by NJ Cole

SALE! Midnight Caller is currently only .99¢!

First off, let me tell you that I am not the biggest fan of paranormal romance. I mean, I can be, but it really has to get my interest quickly or it’s all over for me.

Now, that being said, what really got me about this book was when I read the synopsis for Midnight Caller. It immediately got my attention and I had to find out more about this book.

Rebecca finds out someone (Oliver) has been watching her at night while she is pleasing herself, and now this stranger is calling her and giving her instructions on how to perform for him.

That’s kinda hot right?

After I read the synopsis for Midnight Caller I went to NJ Cole’s website/blog where the first chapter had been posted and that was it, I was hooked. I read the first chapter and then spent the better part of the next day in bed reading the rest of the book!

What I really liked about this book was how Rebecca embraces being pulled into her submissive/dominant relationship with Oliver (or Sir, as she only knows him as) without any drama (or whining) on her end about it. She just completely goes into it with an open mind and finds out how much she really enjoys what her Sir offers her.

A lot of books that deal with a dominant male enticing a woman into a submissive/dominant relationship with him end up being more about the problems (drama) in that relationship, because most of the time that woman doesn’t really want to be in that type of relationship and is only trying to please the guy. That’s not the case in Midnight Caller, and I really enjoyed reading about Rebecca just enjoying losing herself in being a submissive.

While I enjoy books written entirely from one person’s point-of-view, I also really enjoy dual point-of-views as well. In Might Caller, we not only get both Rebecca and Oliver’s point-of-view but we get to go inside the heads of some of the secondary characters as well. While I’m not really sure I feel like the point-of-views from the secondary characters were needed, but it was an interesting addition. It kind of makes me hope there are spin-off books for these characters.

NJ Cole takes us on a sweet torturous ride with Rebecca and Oliver. She really takes the time for their relationship to blossom and develop. We get to sit back and read about their feelings growing for one another, while being completely turned on with their erotic sex scenes.

As I said before, paranormal romance really doesn’t do a whole lot for me, but the paranormal aspect of this book is really secondary to Oliver and Rebecca’s relationship. Honestly, the paranormal part really doesn’t influence much about the book other than the sex scenes.

Just to give you a fair warning, there are A LOT of sex scenes in Midnight Caller. Not only with Rebecca and Oliver, but with some of the secondary characters as well.

Now, at the end of Midnight Caller, I was left with a few unanswered questions, so I hope this means there will be a second book in Oliver and Rebecca’s story! I really enjoyed Oliver and Rebecca and will jump at the chance to go back into their world!

NJ Cole is a witty, mid-western girl with a kinky side. She works by day and writes by night, all while being a mother to her wonderful boys and serving her Sir. Unlike many of today’s authors, she chooses to write in first person, allowing the readers to experience life through the eyes of the unique characters that live in her head. Her love of those characters and respect for their stories come through loud and clear in her writing. With over two million reads of her online work in the past six months, NJ Cole is clearly an up and coming author.
