I take great pleasure in having Joe all over my kindle. So, when the cover reveal for Private Message by Danielle Torella popped up in my Facebook feed thanks to my following (or some may call it stalking…) Joe, I knew I had to read it!
I was happy to be was pleasantly surprised by Danielle Torella’s Private Message! I thought the way Danielle tied all the bits and different pieces of the story together so that it all connected Ben and Tess together was pretty interesting and neat. Danielle made you feel like Ben and Tess were destined to be together, if you will. Or that fate kept jumping in to help bring the together in the end.
Now obviously the title of the book, Private Message, kind gives away to the fact that there is some instant message chatting going on between our hero and heroine, but I really didn’t find this to be the backbone of the story. No, I felt like reading the process of Tess overcoming some of her personal issues in order to give a guy with a reputation (like the one Ben has) a chance was what stuck with me.
There were some great secondary characters as well, that I really would have liked to get to know more. Mainly Tess’ friend Erin and Ben’s friend Dan. It is suggested that Erin also finds a love connect while Tess and Ben start finding their love connection as well, but we don’t get much information about it. Erin definitely deserves her own book! Dan isn’t in much of the book but we learn a lot about his past relationships and I really think he has a lot of potential for his own book as well!
I am a big fan of series books that go from one set of characters to another and we get to follow everyone in between!
Now, the only thing that confused me was I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to like Ben’s dad or not. In the beginning of the book he is played out to be a bit cold-hearted to his children and their dreams for the future. However, towards the end of the book he is extremely supportive and comforting to Ben and Tess.
A little bit of a whip-lash on his dad’s personality, but if that’s the only critique I have then I have to say it’s a pretty good read!
If you’re looking for a love story to take little bit of a rollercoaster this summer, then you should pick up this book!
